Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of heroes who will separate from the main group to begin their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.

This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per the DM, the warrior group is for players who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment show why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each character has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a hostile place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as important members in House Halovar could help the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Seekers and Strategists tables.

Audiences can anticipate learning which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
