Well, perhaps an Ashes series in Australia where they retain a possibility to win back the Ashes after the first three Tests.

This is not the case on this occasion, however, after the hosts' dominant 82-run win in Adelaide put the hosts with a 3-0 lead for the fourth consecutive series on their own soil.

England's famous supporters' group, the organized fan base, have thousands of supporters flying out for the final two Tests in the SCG and MCG.

In addition, there are travel parties who will celebrate the holidays in Australia, as well as families and friends heading for a dream holiday.

Fans with Booked Tickets

The Ryding siblings are four such fans.

The group had their flights and tickets secured for the fourth and fifth Tests "12 months ago", dreaming of a rare England series success.

From afar, they've seen Australia dismantle the tourists in just 11 days from their residence in the north of England.

"Everyone at work has been making comments that the series is done for the last two weeks," commented one sibling.

"Our expectation had been that we would have the series on the line still when we got there."

Fading Positivity

Hope was abundant concerning a potential victory of breaking a 15-year drought for a triumph on Australian soil ahead of the tour.

Yet now they are looking at the possibility of prolonging a streak without victory in the country to 19 matches when the fourth Test gets under way in the MCG on Christmas Day.

Ben Stokes' side - and their fans - will be keen to prevent a dreaded 5-0 scoreline.

Alex said the "thrill and enjoyment" of head coach the positive style of play in the past couple of seasons had "brought fresh energy to" Test cricket for followers of the team.

However, the group said they had low expectations for the remaining matches - and all they are asking for from the players is "a bit of fight".

"Commentators consistently alludes to it, but it all hinges on psychological strength. 'This style has been elevated to a term now that is just, like, unrealistic play," commented another sibling.

"Over the course of five days, you should hunker down. Playing at deliveries 'wide of off stump has not been part of the textbooks, and that is mainly the fault the batting lineup."

The Remaining Matches

Asked whether he believed England will triumph in a Test in this contest, one fan responded: "It appears the Aussies are just too good at the moment."

"Necessarily, there must be multiple performers that stands up for England and produces a match-winning display."

Despite the scoreline, the siblings are still looking forward to the trip.

"We are going to have a fantastic experience anyway," added another sibling. "We have to go with that mindset."

"Naturally, it's a let-down we don't have more to play for, but we have invested a significant amount as it is."

"We'll enjoy having Christmas and New Year out there. This will be a new experience for us away from home over Christmas."

A teacher, Katie is determined to make the most of the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her seasonal break.

"If all else fails, there's always golf to fall back on," she added.
