Football Expert Chris Sutton Battles Artist Murs in Premier League Predictions
Arsenal's ten-match winning streak was ended by Sunderland before the global break, but will the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against local foes Spurs this weekend?
"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated football expert Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."
Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this season, against AI, fans and a variety of special visitors.
In the twelfth round, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
Murs' new album, the new release, is out on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Life
Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of multiple charity football matches over time - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a footballer.
"{I actually played in a benefit game the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!
"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or son chooses to play instead."
Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.
"I won't push football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their weekend soccer side," he said.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a while too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Forecasts
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this fixture will be quite tight, though. Burnley are well organised and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
It smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.
On the other hand, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.
The Hammers' only on the road win this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest manager.
So, what exactly do I predict here - can West Ham continuing their streak under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?
I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Villa was a anomaly.
Sutton's forecast: 2-0
Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2
AI's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the season began, but they have surprised a few people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their past four matches.
My son told me to select Brentford forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.
Thiago will probably find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.
The Bees have not had much success on the travel this season, and Brighton are consistently decent at home. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
The singer's view: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually turns out to be quite close. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.
Fulham have got plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.
As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.
Their display in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We have not seen anyone else rough up the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The logical choice to do to back the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the end of last month.
However I am not do that. Instead, I really need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good results because they evidently love to prove me wrong.
Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a good result, so I am going to say they will secure three points.
The expert's forecast: 1-0
The guest's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a poor run... but they have still been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard one to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
