The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with utilizing the entire amount of immobilized Russian funds to aid the Ukrainian defense operations, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a joint statement, the leaders of the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to come to the table.

They further noted that the move would be implemented in close cooperation with the America.

British penalties have frozen in excess of £25bn of Russian resources since Moscow began its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. But, until now, funds allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's funds had solely been sourced from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir informed President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their aim to advance efforts toward using the full value of the immobilized Russian sovereign assets to halt hostilities.

He noted that additional restrictions over the next period would apply more pressure on the Russian government.

This announcement comes after European representatives met in Copenhagen previously to debate utilizing seized Russia's funds for a €140 billion financial aid to Ukraine.

Recently, American leader Donald Trump urged Group of Seven partners to confiscate or otherwise use immobilized Russian assets, according to media sources.

The total of seized Russia's funds in the EU is estimated to be nearly €211bn.

Russia executed widespread missile and drone strikes across the Ukrainian territory on Friday, leading to blackouts in many areas of the capital city, Kyiv, and eight other regions.

Two people were lost their lives and no fewer than 20 people were hurt in the attack, the Ukrainian government said.

In a post on social media following the attack, Zelensky commented that the cynical and calculated attack aimed at non-military and power facilities.

"What's needed is not empty words but decisive action - from the United States, the European Union, and the G7 - in delivering air defence systems and implementing restrictions," he wrote.

"Each restrictive measure undermines Russia's war machine," Zelensky declared, in a separate post.

Also on Friday, Zelensky told media outlets he would encourage Sir Keir to participate in the Purl program, under which partner nations acquire weapons from the America to provide to Ukraine.

While commending the Britain's firm backing for Ukraine, he said it should indicate firmly that it would take part in the program, as well as apply additional sanctions on Russia.
